Named in 1793 after Swedish chemist Torbern Bergman, torbernite is one of the most visually stunning and easily recognizable secondary uranium minerals. It forms as an alteration product in the oxidized zones of uranium-bearing copper deposits.

This specimen was stabilized with Paraloid B-72, a commonly used conservation material in the field of mineral preservation, providing excellent protective qualities for long-term conservation. The stabilization process infuses the specimen with an acrylic polymer, resulting in a more rigid and less friable specimen that won’t break or disintegrate over time under normal circumstances.
