Uranopilite after uraninite — Rare bright yellow secondary uranyl sulfate mineral forming as delicate crusts or fibrous coatings on oxidized uraninite, representing advanced alteration of primary uranium ore in sulfate-bearing environments.
This specimen was stabilized with Paraloid B-72, a commonly used conservation material in the field of mineral preservation, providing excellent protective qualities for long-term conservation. The stabilization process infuses the specimen with an acrylic polymer, resulting in a more rigid and less friable specimen that won’t break or disintegrate over time under normal circumstances.
