Gadolinite-(Y) is a rare and historically significant silicate mineral famous for being the original source from which the element yttrium was first discovered by Finnish chemist Johan Gadolin in 1794. Gadolinite-(y) contains 38% yttrium by mass.

Stabilized with Paraloid B-72, a commonly used consolidant in the preservation of flaky minerals and fossils. Stabilization ensures that the crystal's don't come lose from the matrix.
