Andersonite, Schröckingerite, Metamunirite on Sandstone

Locality: D-Day Mine, Thompsons Mining District, Grand County, Utah, USA

Approximate Weight: 90.7 Grams

Size: 122x49x28mmm

This specimen might look like it has tool marks, but upon closer inspection, you can see Andersonite globules inside the depression fluorescing in the last picture. The streak below the depression is not a tool mark either. It's Metamunirite with Andersonite globules lining each side like blue road reflectors. The obvious crack won't get any bigger because the specimen was stabilized.

Photographed with indoor and outdoor light - Fluorescence demonstrated using 365nm light

This specimen was stabilized with Paraloid B-72, a consolidant commonly used in the field of mineral and fossil preservation. The stabilization process infuses the specimen with an acrylic polymer, resulting in a specimen that is less frangible.
