Trinitite (also known as Alamogordo glass or Atomic Age glass) is a glass-like material formed during the first atomic bomb test, Trinity, on July 16, 1945. The intense heat of the plutonium bomb detonation vaporized and fused the desert sand into this greenish, translucent glass primarily composed of silica.
