Uraninite is a black, metallic mineral and the main source of uranium. It contains uranium dioxide (UO2) and is highly radioactive, emitting alpha and gamma radiation. It has a specific gravity of 6 to 10 and a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5. Uraninite is found in hydrothermal veins, pegmatites, and sedimentary deposits worldwide. It is important for nuclear energy, scientific research, and industrial applications. It’s abundance and radioactive nature make it valuable for nuclear fuel production and power generation.

It also meets U.S.P.S domestic shipping requirements for exempt limited quantities of class 7 materials according to –347.22 “are eligible under 49 CFR to be shipped as excepted packages for limited quantities” and –Exhibit 347.22 Activity Limits– and also –173.435– Table of A1 and A2 values
