This specimen was stabilized with Paraloid B-72, a commonly used conservation material in the field of mineral preservation, providing excellent protective qualities for stabilization and long-term conservation. The stabilization process results in a specimen that won’t fall apart over time like autunite normally does if neglected. Using this specimen in a cloud chamber isn’t recommended because isopropyl alcohol rain will dissolve and degrade the stabilizer over time.
Autunite contains 48.27% uranium. This specimen will glow bright green in the presence of UV light due to the presence of phosphorus.
A small UV light source and plastic display case are included with the purchase.
Shipped only with USPS Parcel Select Ground (2-8 days), wrapped in plastic, lead foil, and bubble wrap in a box big enough to bring the parcel surface activity below the 0.5mR/hr shipping limit.
(the unshielded specimen itself has an activity above 70 Bq/gram)
