1B22 Spark Gap Tube by Western Electric, Ra-226

The 1B22 – an Argon-Hydrogen filled was made by Western Electric during WWII  for use as a radar modulator.  It is a highly radioactive spark gap tube that contains Ra-226 as a radioactive source in a quantity of (2,95±5%) µCi ( microcuries) at the time of manufacture.

In the second picture, it is being measured with the GMC-300E Plus.

Seen in the third picture being measured with a pancake probe on the GMC-600Plus.


Shipped only with USPS Parcel Select Ground (2-8 days), wrapped in plastic, aluminum foil, and bubble wrap in a box big enough to bring the parcel surface activity below the 0.5mR/hr shipping limit.

The buyer must assume responsibility for this item and use it according to its intended purpose. It is illegal to remove the Am-241 sample from the ion chamber. Keep this away from children and store it at least thr feet away from anywhere anyone spends a lot of time.
